5 BEAUTY SECRETS THAT COST $0

#1 SLEEP
The term “beauty sleep” didn’t come out of nowhere. We’re sure this is the 10,000th time you’ve heard this but maybe it’s the reminder you need! Experts say getting a full 8 hour sleep a night equal to a healthy body, powered brain and yes, outer beauty too. How? Sleep boosts blood flow to your skin while you snooze, which means you wake up to a healthy glow. If you miss out on sleep it can cause your complexion to look drab, ashen, or lifeless. Sleep is also linked to cell and tissue repair, so getting great shut-eye can give your skin an extra boost. Collagen is made while you snooze! Getting more sleep can also help fight the appearance of wrinkles. Skip the pricey collagen pills, powders and botox and start getting proper rest!

#2 BRAIDS
Â
Not only are braids one of the most requested hairstyles from clients at Primp & Proper and Faye Smith Agency it’s also sported regularly by staff! Braids admittedly are tricky to learn (you can still hire us if you’d like!) but are an effortless hairstyle that can be worn so many ways without needing expensive products or tools. It’s 100% free! A basic braid is a feminine Parisian looking style that can be worn as a polish and put together work or casually on the weekends. You can also wear braids to bed to wake up to gorgeous beach waves in the morning! No straighteners or curlers required. Getting into more intricate braids, updos, and styles we do suggest hiring one of our pros!

# 3 H20
Need a beauty boost? Grab a glass of water. Another tip instilled in us by nutritionists, parents and personal trainers, for good reason! Water intake is so important for your health in general but is often forgotten in many people’s daily routine. Water makes your skin glow, creates stronger nails, fights aging, clears acnes and reduces hair loss in women. A hydrated body is a beautiful body! The average person requires 48 to 64 ounces (or 6 to 8 cups) of water a day. If you’re a big coffee drinker, incorporate at least 8!

#4 FACE MASSAGE
Ok, this one is a little weird we’ll admit. However, the rise of cult favourites like jade roller’s, Nurse Jaime’s UpLift Beauty Roller and Gua Sha scrapers all rooted from the anti-aging benefits of facial massages. A face massage stimulates the face muscles which helps to bring oxygen to that area. It’s a natural form of anti aging skin care in itself. More blood flow to the area increases collagen production, which gives a healthy and natural glow to the complexion! We do suggest eventually investing in a rose-quartz or jade roller as they have additional benefits to your skin (and makes massaging your own face easier), but if you’re a beginner there are tons of videos online that can teach you how to give yourself a face massage. Incorporating this $0 beauty tip to your daily routine will give you long-term anti-aging benefits!

#5 EXERCISE
Â
We know we sound like a broken record. But inner and outer beauty all roots from self-love which means self care! We all understand the importance of exercise but did you know that there are actual beauty benefits from regular exercise? Exercise, and generally getting your heart rate up and improving blood circulation, can help to deliver oxygen and nutrients to the skin which keeps the skin healthy, promotes collagen production, and promotes new skin cells which keeps the skin looking glowing and is also helpful for anti-aging. When we exercise, our body naturally releases hormones called endorphins. Endorphins trigger the positive feeling that you have after workouts. Endorphins help combat those high cortisol levels and can leave you with better beauty sleep and looking refreshed in the morning. There are also the obvious benefits of regular exercise which promotes a healthy weight, slimmer figure and face too. Although we are pro #normalizenormalbodies we also believe in a healthy diet and regular exercise. Rather than obsessing over the number on the scale, focus on how you feel in regards to self-confidence, energy levels and natural glow!
